Many thanks to Erica Roman for inviting me to suggest some ideas for creating content. MLE Bear is truly a remarkable talent…

After doing our research on Emily, watching her perform in many videos, listening to her music, old and new, my team and I have had enough time to digest all this info and we must say that we’re very excited to be apart of helping her team grow. I was in a rock band until I was 25 years old, traveling, promoting, shooting videos, writing songs…so I'm extremely confident that you guys have found the perfect content creator for this project. 

Below are some "thought starters" that outline a possible path for building a brand identity for MLE Bear. My main goal is to deliver content that you guys are excited about and I want it to be a lot of fun to make as well. By working together through the entire process, we can ensure satisfaction. My company prides itself on working with meaningful projects, no matter the budget.

the basics - Content

Promo and Bio Videos (length 1-2 min)

Let’s get the fans an inside look into the life of MLE Bear - then & now. Interviews, goofing off in the studio, talking about life so far, cut with live footage, etc., these type of videos will document all the Behind the Scenes action and will give fans an idea of what it would be like to know Emily.

Styled Photographs (Live & Staged)

"One of the most important elements of an artist’s presence is how they present themselves visually..."

A picture is worth a thousand words. These snap shots in time allow for a super fan to zone out on over and over. My suggestion would be to have both a live photo shoot and a studio photo shoot. We can get Emily all styled up and take some really great, high resolution images that can be used and recycled for marketing purposes ad infinitum. Check out these reference photos: 

Music Videos / Live Performances

"Music videos as an art form are as important now as they’ve ever been. They’re part of our visual language — a significant part of the culture of our consumption of music, art and entertainment…and they are also a great way to spend five minutes in the afternoon..."

Most artists are hands-on, DIY operations. Since marketing and promotion are total beasts, having some knowledgable and experienced outside help can really direct the project toward success. Having at least one legit music video, and maybe even some companion lyric videos, MLE Bear can really start building the fan base over the next 5 years that will last the rest of her life. We suggest to start our creative relationship by making one narrative-style music video that tells a simple but clever story and one live performance video to showcase Emily’s energy on stage. In our opinion, considering the landscape today, an artist doing their own release, putting their own money and sweat equity into the music and its promotion, makes that artist much more authentic, but keeping up with the workload can take its toll. Getting a little help is a way to remain in control of her vision.

website / Online EPk

An artist's online presence and content are essential. MLE Bear’s website will be the hub for all of her videos, news, photos, live streams, etc., to build her following and engage directly with her audience. We would suggest using Squarespace to build the website, because it has very modern layouts that are user friendly and easy to update. As the home of the MLE Bear’s brand online, it will have links to all the social media outlets, biographical information, and an EPK for press inquiries and bookers. The site can also enter into a secondary phase that includes direct sales of albums and merchandise. Below is a mockup of a potential MLE Bear landing page:

ALBUM COVER ART/INSERTS 

Created in Photoshop or Illustrator from the professional photographs taken during the studio sessions, the perfect album cover should surface as the artist develops and puts out a record. This leading image will likely be the most viewed photo for the artist, as it will be the thumbnail for most of the streaming platforms. Having a killer album cover and some artwork to decorate the sound of the artist's music is definitely next level. Take a look at a few creative concepts and some young rock star album covers:

Social Media

"Social Media tools can help to strengthen an artist’s perception by communicating core values directly to a wider audience...constantly."

Social Media is a powerful marketing tool when used correctly. After securing artist profiles on recommended social media outlets, such as YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, SoundCloud, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat, the content we make will create constant opportunities to connect directly to fans, over and over. This could eventually include Facebook Live to stream shows & rehearsals, really letting the audience into her creative process. It is vital to have a consistent pipeline of content being produced and repurposed to populate these social media feeds. Below is just one example of how album artwork can be debuted and then extended well into the feed to create a seamlessly integrated framing layout for subsequent posts, incorporating artist artwork and color gradients to transition from one seasonality or posting phase to the next…

Using the Adobe Suite post production workflow, migrating between editing and effects will be maximized, minimizing turnaround times.

Ironically, it can only be made by killing trees, so we have adopted a "DIY" attitude and through our extensive network of collaborative relationships, we offer our clients the industry standard filmmaking process at an affordable cost. Our in-house production gear and editorial equipment help to streamline our workflow. Save the trees!

I would love to execute the above proposal as a starter project between MLE Bear and my company. Since we are able to bring any size project from inception to completion, we will work with Emily to find a package that works for her.
